I don't like the wood stocked ones with the white spacers and I think the Lazermarks look horrible. I'm not fond of the lightweights either. I like my actions heavy.

The Accumarks are friggin sharp! I had one in 30-378 and thought it was TOO MUCH rifle. Sold it for furniture money when my wife and I bought our first house out of school. I will own another soon!! Probably get one in 257 WBY.

Just bought a Super Varmintmaster "single-shot" in 22-250 and am pretty excited about its arrival.

My favorite smith says Weatherbys are not the best platform for a custom rifle, but I have enjoyed fondling the ones I've held.

Am I being Polly Anna-ish if I say that I dislike very few rifles I've seen? The only rifles I don't care for are the old military ones with all the different stock parts etc. I like simplicity and strength.

All rifles can't be Sakos and Ruger No.1s!

Weatherby rifles? Muy bien!!

I always wanted a Weatherby when I was young and a little more foolish. But I outgrew the "Californicated" stock style of Uncle Roy's guns. If I owned one today, it would be a .300 Wby in a Ruger No. 1!!

What a hell of a salesman that guy was! Tomorrow's Rifles Today!! That was true!!

I BOUGHT A REMINGTON MODEL 700 CLASSIC-300 WEATHERBY MAGNUM IN THE EARLY 1980'S AT GENE TAYLORS IN GRAND JUNCTION COLORADO WHEN I WAS IN THE HUNTING BUSINESS. I HAVE USED IT ON ANTELOPE, MULE DEER, & ELK. IT IS NOW IN A CHET BROWN STOCK, GREAT GUN.
THE FLASH, GLITTER & WEIGHT OF THE CLASSIC WOOD STOCKED WEATHERBY NEVER TURNED ME ON ESPECIALLY AFTER THE GERMAN PRODUCTION WAS CLOSED.
I AM SENDING A SUPER GRADE MODEL 70 IN 270 WIN. TO BE RE BARRELLED TO THE 300 MEATHERBY MAGNUM FOR MY LIGHT AFRICAN RIFLE.

I have 4 jap built weatherbys.....all excellent shooters. Then when they moved the production to the usa I bought a 300 ultralight and so did a good friend. Those guns were "problems".
At the end of the jap production a distributor was selling the remain Japs cheap...picked up my .340 wby brand new for $375----SWEEET!!!

I really like the cartridges, but damn the rifles. I alway's wonder what kind of a car a man that would design such rifles would drive? Curb feelers, white walls, vinyl top Confused HA!

Oh what the hell,,,,,,Somebody has to do it animal

Always wanted one. Still do, a .257, but probably won't. A client several years ago got five of those beauties in, and we agreed to take the price of one off his hunt. He said he would shoot them and make sure to send me an accurate one. He ended sending them all back to Weatherby because he felt none of them shot up to standard. I have pondered a second barrel for a custom I have, and if (when) I do, it will be a .257 Weatherby.

I have two. A Japanese Alaskan model in .300 Wby. and one of the first stateside production Mk.V stainless synthetic versions in .340. I bought these when I was 19 and 20 and impressionable... I doubt I'll ever buy another. I will however continue to use both calibers as the .340 has awesome on game performance.

The .340 is the most accurate rifle I have ever been associated with as I have consistently shot one inch groups at 200 meters with it. It also has ate a Leupold VariX-III scope. My .300 is a consistent moa shooter and has been my main hunting rig for the past 12 years. But it is soon to be retired.

The Japanese production MkV is noticeable smoother that the U.S. production one. Probably due to the electroless nickel plating. But I have never thought stainless actions to be smooth no matter the flavor.

I have two ultralightweights. One is a 240 and the other a 257.
I think they are great. Lightweight and accurate.
I guess I could tie a bowling ball to the bolt handle to add weight and gum the action and pretend it is a Mauser if I wanted to.

This article has been discussed on the forum before.

He is titled to his opinions, I'll give him that. Journalistical, that article fails SOOOO bad.

For the topic, I love Weatherby's. Maybe not their stocks, but the actions are wonderful. So they need tuning before hunting. Theese days, which does not?

I have a Vanguard in .257 Wthby, because no other non-custom manufacturer chambers this round. To me, it is the ultimate deer and antelope round. A .270 Wthby or .270 WSM is close, though!

I've always enjoyed my Weatherby's. I like a good wood and polished blue on a rifle. I own a couple and have never regreted buying them. I would put my Sako's a little above my Weatherby's but for hunting, 1/2 to 1 inch groups at 100yds, are fine for me. I currently own:

XXII tube feed with matching scope
Mk V deluxe in 240Wby
Euromark in 270Wby
3- MK V deluxe in 300Wby
MK V Custom shop in 340WBy
MK V Custom shop in 460Wby

I guess, you could say I like my Weatherby's. Cool

I have a Sako AV in 375 Weatherby. It is so mice! I will get around to making up another Sako into a 270 or 7mm Weatherby. Build it on an L 61R with a three position LaPour safety. 25" barrel. McMillan stock. Whooooo Weee, that would be a good 'un. I borrowed a 257 Weatherby down in Texas several years ago. It was quite the flat shooter, but barked a bit much for deer hunting (for my taste).

I had a Weatherby SS in 300wby, and ended up selling it after a couple of years.

I was not impressed with the quality; crap stock (which I quickly switched to a McMillan), very rough barrel that fouled a lot, I was never pleased with the accuracy (maybe due to the crap barrel?), and rough action (being stainless probably didn't help, but then I've used other makes of SS rifles which were still much smoother).

I can't see that I'll be buying one again, as there are so many other rifles out there that I'd rather own.

I have a Weatherby Vanguard in .300 WBY, it's a great rifle, at a great price. I would not buy a Mark 5, lot's of better rifles for the money.
