| Mine comes in at 1lb-7oz. I still gotta wonder what you all have to get so bent over the weight of stuff. I see alloy bases and all sorts of stuff out there but I figure if I want it to last and to be durable I will get what works best and deal with having to carry the extra pound or two. Good luck. |

| Thanks for the info But I disagree on the importance of light weight versus unneccesary heavy rifles for high mt pack trips. I have a friend that may be useing a ruger no.1 at 10#. The Encore setup I will be useing weighs 5lb-9.75oz 16" 308 AI tapered bbl w/duo mts 1-8oz frame 1-8oz burris 2-7 13.25oz stock/forend 1-12.5 another friend has a custom bolt action switch barrel that weighs 5-6oz but cost him over 2000. I think I like the Encore Carbine. |

| I am doing much the same thing but went with a Contender frame to save weight. One barrel in .375 JDJ at 20" with 4x leupold runs just under 6 lbs and with 21" 6.5 JDJ and 3-9 leupold compact runs about 6.25-6.5 haven't weighed it yet. Stock is home made out of a piece of Quilted maple. I really feel like I have all my bases covered currently, but I will probably upgrade to a G2 frame once they become more readily available and the prices come down a little.
I gave some consideration to moving up the the encore for cartridges with a little more horsepower ie. 6.5x284, but instead I just stick the rangefinder in my pocket and hold accordingly. I don't really shoot long range so my current combo should work well. I will really get to wring it out next season but right now I am very happy with it. |
