ga sixgunner -- that is awesome! But, again I am going to have to go after you for details!! Let's hear it! What was the load in the .475? Where did you hunt that monster?

Awesome Water buffalo, I got one also, but not with my handgun. I used a Encore 416 Rigby with a 300 gr. bullet. One shot at 135 yards. The mount gets a lot of comments.

The pix of the mount make me recall our gunsmiths trophy caribou. His grandkids kept going into his bedroom looking for the rest of its body that wasn't stickin' thru the wall into the living room.

Whitworth,
gasixgunner reported in his Dec. 2007 article in the SIXGUNNER that his first shot was @ 28 yds. His 5" FA .475 Linebaugh load was reported to be 27 gr. 296 pushing a 425 gr. cast GC. bullet. I believe it was taken in Fla., but not on Joe O'Bannon's J&R Outfitters concession.

juanpozzi,
As you can see from the photo this is the same type of water buffalo, introduced from the asian/Indian subcontinent, as was introduced in Argentina and Brazil many years ago, rather than the type of asiatic water buffalo that was introduced into the Northern Territorty of Australia in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Both types are approximately in the same weight range and are certainly a worthy challenge for a handgunner. Robert (gasixgunner) certainly deserves our congatulations.
My only Argentine buffalo was also taken with a 9" FA .475 Linebaugh, using 400gr. Hornady XTP's, driven by 25.6 gr. of H110, alternating chambers with a 420 gr. WFN driven by 26 gr. of H110. This has also worked well on our native North American bison.
Guillermo will have plenty of power available to him with a .500 S&W.

JWP, I received a PM about your post seeing's you are on my ignore list. If you don't have anything of value to add to the topic, don't post. No reason to start an argument in a thread you did not start. You need to learn when someone ignores you, that they have no interest in you at all and therefor you need to learn to give it a rest.
MS Hitman, I hope you can persuade JWP to stick to the topic at hand and not start another argument for which he is good for.

The topic at hand is always credibility. If you like I can post the negative quotes about Game Farm Hunting from You 2.
As always speaking from both side of your mouth.

Was it a tough stalk, as I see you were heavily CAMO'ED with the white cut offs and all

It allways pissed me off when i heard guys badmouth so called canned hunts. the same guys will have no problem hunting over bait or fishing a stream or lake that has been stocked or hunting over crops in a field. Ive hunted enough canned hunts to know that some of them can be just a shoot and some of the animals ive taken on canned hunts ive hunted harder for then animals in the wild. Whos bussiness is it but mine how i hunt. Unless im hurting you keep your mouth shut. Its the bickering on sights like this about someones opionion on what is ethical that fuels the anti hunters and the anti gun people. If its leagal and i dont waste the meat i dont see where i need to be judged by anyone. How could stalking an animal all day and then taking it with a handgun be any more unethical that driving down a road and finding a bunch of antelope or mule deer then making a one hour stalk (walk) to get close enough to shoot them at 400 yards with a 7 mag. Animals were put on earth to feed me. Im not one to put trophys on the wall. I feel its good gun money wasted. My trophy is when i sit down to back straps. Hell if a local farmer told me he was looking for someone to go and pop a few cows in his pasture id be the first in line to do it. Hell of alot more fun then going grocery shopping!!

Lloyd,

I agree with you on this point. In all honesty, one of the members was pointing out a detractor doing the same thing he had gotten a hard time over; which was hunting on a game farm. Bullet performance is not changed by the geographical location one shoot an animal. Nor is it dictated by which side of the fence it is shot.

Now that Bob's thread has been completely hijacked; I'm going to take this opportunity to let everyone know I expect a lot more decorum and courtesy on this forum than I have been seeing lately. This does not mean we all have to agree on everything. We may just have to agree to disagree, but I do believe we need to react as if we were in the same room with each other when responding to a post.

If ignorance is bliss; there are some blissful sonofaguns around here. We know who you are, so no reason to point yourselves out.

Rob,
I have to say that the Accurate Reloading forum is without question the least polite..well, Hell, flat out rude... internet site that I visit.I've stayed away for a while, several times because its too much of a nuisance seeing the pettiness. You know who the offending parties are on the Handgun Forum. Perhaps half their posts are going to turn negative somewhere in the thread if they don't agree with another poster.I've seen the same type of intolerance/ negativism from time to time on the AR African Forum, and almost never waste my time there any more. There are some superb handgun and hunting sites on the internet. One has to ask themselves, "why bother with anything that isn't?"
I wish you luck in improving civility.

My hardest hunts have been on public land in CO. There was huge number of red vested hunters on the mountainside. Almost unbelievable. Came upon a couple of hunters squarreling over a cow elk and who really shot and up came another fella offering his business card as an atty. However, really enjoyed the elk camp experience.

Any time I killed a deer and hung it next to my tent in PA, I would tie a cord around a hoof and run it under the leaves into my tent. I stacked pots, pans and silverware to tie the cord to.
Many times in the middle of the night they would come crashing down and we would hear footsteps running off. Mad
I have given away a ton of deer and if someone was desperate enough and just asked, I would have given them the deer. But to sneak in at night to try and steal it only showed how many bad apples we have in the field.
I have heard a lot of stories of guys getting deer stolen at gun point. Seen many arguements too.
I knew a family in MI that told me all the kids would go poaching at night then go to bars the next day and sell deer to the "hunters" sitting around drinking. I have to wonder how many went home to brag about their "kill." It takes all kinds I guess.
Now someone here is going to jump on me for accusing them of this! dancing

I feel the same way you do, I hunt the way I want, and I don't care how others hunt as long as it is legal.

Where would you put all of it?
I also read back and seen the reference to a 420 gr WFN and 26 gr's of 296. That is the exact same load me and Whitworth use. Super accurate.
