I almost always have my ruger blackhawk 4 5/8" 41 mag with me when I go hunting. With 293 gr hardcast loads.
If I get close enough I'll use it instead of my rifle.

I'm thinking of useing a 41mag. My last 2 deer were taken up close. One at under 20 paces and the other about 12 feet. Why lug around somthing heavy for those distances.

I just picked up a "new" Old Model Blackhawk .41 Mag. Serial #10891.

Anybody got any good suggestions for a heavy cast bullet?

I don't think I'd want to go as heavy as a 293. Maybe something like 260 grain?

How are NEI molds?

Oh, I plan on shootin' a few big hogs.

I'll be shooting a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley, Stainless, 5.5" barrel loaded with 300 grain Cast Performance (LBT) cast bullet on top of 23.5 gr. of W296. Shoots 1.5" groups at 50 yards, and is more than enough for anything walking this continent.
