Shot biggest doe ever this winter with 300 gr lee cast. Cast with straight wheel weight, The deer was facing me at about 40 yards bullet entered chest area took out heart liver and lungs and ended up just under the skin of the left hind leg. The bullet expanded to 7/8 inch and lost 5 gr of weight. 454 Casull using 4227 at aprox 1250 fps according to crony. I don't think that I would need more penatration on anything other then a big bear.
