Bad shooting is bad shooting-no matter with a rifle or handgun. So many Kodiak bears have been successfully taken with handguns, it is not news anymore.

Later on, he says he was shooting a S&W revolver.
"... the bullet striking the great bear center mass and, again, it never flinched."

at 25 yards....

Doesn't sound like the type of shot one would purposely make on a grizzly bear.
Not a real impressive article.
