First kill with the FA 475
Wile butchering wild pigs at camp in the morning [see my post in Hog hunting], I heard a "cluck cluck, pock pock. I thought "who in camp is messing with a turkey call"? But I was the only one in camp. I looked around and saw 15 to 20 turkeys walking by about 30 yards behind my trailer. I snuck around the other side went foward and waited for them to come into my view, when they did I snuck foward and at about 24 yards drew my FA 475 Linebaugh and fired one round which struck the turkey. It rolled him over then he ran toward me for about 10 yards, slowed then died. The bullet a Buffalo Bore 420 grain light load [983 fps, chronoed from my 6" bbl] had hit at the wing joint and exited mid body near the back. Only about one bite on entry and maybe two bites on exit of the breast were damaged. Best of all the heart, liver, and gizzard [my favorite parts] were untouched.
Next time I go to the lease I will try to get a pig and/or a doe deer.

Nice shot NE...but when the turkey charged I'm surprised you were not able to get another round off.... Learn from this mistake, have Searcy make you a double handgun in .475.

Tony...you never learn...first you start with chasing after an elephant you shoot who turns on you, now a wounded chicken...I mean turkey. Fortunately both surcumed to your first round even though you failed to use "enough gun" in both cases.

I think it is time you look at buying my friend's .577 and look at trading in that under powered .475 for the .500 FA that I sent you the email about.

Just the other day two dogs tried to jump a fence and take my face off. Eeker

And do not forget my encounter with the semian Jabari. Big Grin

Seems like every animal I encounter now a days wants to hurt me bad.
It does make it interesting though. mgun

...just stay out of the zoo before your next safari...you get caught "practicing" again and you will never make retirement.
