I would opt for the S&W ifit were me. I have a S&W M-357 in 41 Mag the I like rather well _____________________________________________________ A 9mm may expand to a larger diameter, but a 45 ain't going to shrink Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened. - Winston Churchill

I'd also go for the Smith. Not that the taurus is junk, but you can do a simple search and find quite a few blown apart....

Ditto -- Smith all theway. I stear clear of Taurus whenever I can. They're just not well made. I have shot jwp's .41 mag Model 357 and it is a great piece! Got a look at 3 Taurus recently, and watched a smith doing trigger jobs, and checking the guns for a shop. 2 where fine. One took nearly an hour to straighten out, and just to get to work. had to straighten the rather soft metal bar the cylinder was mounted on.. While the S&W aren't all that great, they are better then the Taurus I saw.

I have two Smiths in 41 and a Taurus Tracker 5-shot in 41. They are all extremely accurate, which is a 41 trait. The only negative, if you call it that for the Taurus is that the cylinders are not as polished as I would like. Other than that, they are pretty equivalent. ..funny everyone has the .41 and not the .44...and there is a reason. Even with factory 210 full loads the .41 in the AirLite is manageable...not so the .44 with 240s. I have both the Titanium Tracker and 357 AirLite and they both shoot well. I have two friends that have 329s and with full loads they are not fun at all. 6 was all I could take and even with locked out DA I could not keep the sights even on the target frame for a fast followup shot. If you get one and want to carry it for personal defense I would suggest the Speer Gold Dot 200 grain .44 Magnum Short Barrel load. At 1080 from a 4" it is very pleasant to shoot and with the deep .44 Special HP on board it does open up EVERY time... Stay with lighter bullets or mid-range heavies but the full loads are a BEAR... Bob ps...the X-Frame 500 Hogue graips only available through S&W make all the difference in the world shooting the heavy recoiling AirLites. I put a set on the 357 and they are vast improvment over the standard open backstrap Hogues that come with the gun.
