boom stick460 s&w long!
has this been done or can it???
blow out the 444 marlin brass and neck to 451. able to use the extra length in the long bfr cylinder. shoots 45 colt, 454 cassul, 460 s&w and 45 boom stick (if it has not already been created) the new round will do 460 velocity @ a much lower preasure or crank it up for some hurt'n
can it or has it been done???

it can be loaded to a oal of 2.6" so there is plenty-o-room
one option is to get the 460 frame and ream out the 444 cylinder if there might be a problem.
it might need to 2 or 3 thou to be reamed out of the inside of the 444 case and fireformed but doable i say...
shoot these heavy 405 gr 542 dia bullets from beartooth bullets
it should duplicate the 45-70 as far as balistics and have 3 diff factory carts with a myriad of loads from super tame 45 colt to extreme!

ManCannonIs there really a need for something that duplicates the 45-70, that duplicates the 450 Marlin, that would duplicate the 450BS? Not that it couldn't be done, but it seems like the long way around to get exactly what you'd get from a factory BFR in either current caliber. Seems like tit's on a bull, if you ask me

boom stickthe advantage would be that if you already had a 460 bfr you had another option of a smack down hunter like the 45-70, and lower preasure @ same velocity of 460. of course it would only work in a single shot or bfr. those pointy hornady will go a long way and so range is extended if needed.

KRyderThis has been done before - called the 450 Mongo.
Do a Google search for it ( use quotes, though ) and you can find it on the the internet. I have one in a single shot handgun ( got it before there was a 460 S&W ) and the recoil will definitely make you pay attention. I also have a 44 Magnum Super Blackhawk and that's a pussycat by comparison ( and I shoot HEAVY loads in that ).
