degoinsSchofield replicas
Hey guys,
Anybody tried any of the schofield replicas? If so are they any good? My only experience with Italian replicas was with one of the 1875 Remingtons and it shot about 12 to 16" high no matter what load. It did group well though.
Thanks in advance.

Idaho SharpshooterI've owned both the Schofields and the Third Model Russians. Are you talking CAS competition, or just for the cool factor. The 3MR is awesome for CAS, the little spur is great for hanging your support hand index finger on. The local club hated mine enough to eliminate any revolver reloads the first year I shot them. Mine all came thru Navy Arms, they have more than 3,000 rounds apiece thru them and still lock up tight and index properly.
They will make you crazy if you try switching back and forth with Colts though.

degoinsThanks Rich. That was pretty much the info I was looking for. I'm not a competitor, but I really do think the Schofeilds are cool. I handled one from Navy Arms several years ago and was impressed with the overall fit and finish. However I was skepticle because of previous experience with the 75 Remington replica.....it was also from Navy Arms. Did yours hit pretty close to point of aim with standard loads or did you have to do a lot of tailoring?
Thanks again,
David

Idaho SharpshooterPaul Cooper local guy did the action work on mine and we fiddled/filed a bit and got them shooting 2" high at 25 yds. Perfect with a 6 o'clock hold.
He finished third last year at the SASS championships so I figure he knows how to tune. He does neat short-stroke work on lever guns too.
Mine are almost as much fun as playing with the grandbabies.

boom stickI love them but wish they made a birdshead grip.
One handed reloading is way cool if you need it.

Idaho SharpshooterI've packed one along moving cows and calves to summer range and back again in the fall. One of the 3MR's has two coyotes to it's credit. Under 50yds. You're moving cows on horseback they take a couple minutes to figure out you're a "People" and run. Too late sometimes.
