Surtr is a Giant Norse God with a flaming sword.
Basicly a 220 swift case cut to 1.6" and stuffed with 410 bullets for a Maximim frame. Has this been done?
The original idea was for this to be done on a grendel or 7.62x39 or lengthened case for an AR platform like the mini 14 conversion of a 7.62x39. With large bullets it is more of a pistol round and that aint so bad

use 405 bullets or 410 pistol bullets.
These high BC 300 grain spitzers will do. More down range energy.

keep it under 1,100 fps for an accurate long range subsonic round.

JOE MACKI can't recall a .41 caliber cartridge on the swift. The only other .41s that are 1.6 inches are the .414SM and .41GNR#2. I've had two Maxes so far in .414SM. Both were 6-shot cylinders that were rebored. One had a re-rifled barrel while the other had a new one. Can't recall what kind of performance I was getting as my journals are buried somewhere. I'm pushing a 210grJHP at @ 1600fps in a Ruger Redhawk .41Magnum without any high pressure signs like flattened primers or case separation. I believe the Max did about 125-150fps better than that. My .414SM Encore barrel hasn't been shot yet so I can't do any comparison with it, yet.
I know J.D. Jones is using the Swift case for his "Dreadnought" line of cartridges. I just like a substantial rim on my pistol cartridges.
At present, I'm having Reeder build his Wyoming Hunter for me on the Max. It'll be in .41GNR#2 which is the .445SM necked down. I'm having him do a 5-shot auxillary cylinder in .414SM for it. Sounds like some fun when I get it.

Redhawk1How about a 410 GNR, a 454 Casull necked down to .410. A super hot 41 Mag....
If you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

I was going to mention that (I love mine) but he wanted a 1.6 inch case length. I'm thinking the next one will have an octagonal barrel.

If Andy had .41GNR headstamped brass, I'd get one of those, too.
