Okay, it's that time of the year again. What is it that you guys are going to be using (revolver/caliber/load/bullet) this Fall?

Well I am taking my new custom SRH in 475Linebaugh on every hunt for every species this year.A proven load of a 420gr over 296 for 1350fps will be used mostly with an occassional factory round for comparrison, and later evaluations/discussions/etc.

Also I will be accompaning a young hunter using a 44mag bisley using some factory loadings as well as handloads.

And maybe for kicks before the deer season is done the model 64 S&W can take one just to prove a point. wave

Well doubt seriously I will sick em on a deer, but the plan is to put several of my home cast 300gr RF's, out of a Lee mold, and launched from the 454, through the shoulders of some hogs.

I will also be trying out my newly acquired Redhawk in 45 Colt. I haven't done much load work with it just yet, but some thrown together loads using Oregon Trial 255gr are shooting VERY well. I also have a Lee mold for a 255gr RF that I may give a try, as well as the 250gr Gold Dot. I just haven't had the time to play with it much only having it for a couple of weeks.

Then there is my fav, in the Redhawk 41mag. No doubt it will be out most of the time. Standard loads for it are the 200gr Remington SJHP over 20.5grs of 296. Zeroed at 50yds, it simply works, least for what I hunt.

WOW, a new caliber. Who is making the "465"? When did you test it? How well does it penetrate?

No drama on my end, Landrum.

Now let me get this straight. It's wrong that I edited something I wrote? How is that? Now, you made a funny based on my misspelling (I punched the 6 instead of the 7) and I didn't get offended, even if your funnin' was at my expense.

Now, instead of being critical of me, please tell us what you will be using this deer season.

I'll use several handguns hunting, but will practice shooting shotgun shells at 800 yards and Pepsi cans at 1 mile... with My FA's.
Walking back and forth a mile each way so I can set those cans back up to shoot for group will also help get me in good physical shape.

Had a fellow over yesterday to sight his rifle, many problems back and forth with a few clicks. Either bad scope or the rifle. An old pump Savage in .35 Remy. EXPENSIVE ammo.
I gave him my .475 BFR, told him what to do and he took a can off the rail at 100 yards first shot. Maybe another convert.
My first will be the .500 JRH with a scope. I ordered the Ultra Dot but they were out of stock, waiting for a shipment.

No long bow for me! This year I will probably use two revolvers. I will first use the Bisley Hunter in .429 Magnum (with and Ultradot 4 on a Weigand base) stoked with Double Tap's 320 grain WFNs, and then I will break out the .500 Linebaugh SRH.

I recently took delivery of one of the flat top Blackhawks in .45 colt from Lipsey's....can't wait to try it out. I managed to kill an 8 point buck with .44 Spec. flat top last year and that was the highlight of my season.

Be using a .41caliber of one flavor or another. I usually just close my eyes, reach into the safe, and whatever .41Magnum comes to hand goes hunting.

I'm pretty certain it'll be a .41 caliber of some type. Either a .41Magnum or Special. Deer calls for the 210gr JHP ammo can in either Magnum or Special.

I've got a friend in Arkansas that is just dyin to shoot the Automag, so I may have to take it out. I've been workin on getting 20 cases made for the .577(.585") Howdahs. I've already got bullets cast. If one of them shoots good I may be tempted to try my luck with it.

A couple pics, the 70 cal on the bottom.

If I recall correctly, the Howdahs are the ultimate belly gun and not long on either sights nor accuracy; I could be wrong on this. It would have a coolness factor off the chart though if you did shoot a deer or two with it.

The sights definatly leave much to be desired. The 70 cal will put Lee 1oz 12 ga slugs right next to each other, but it shoots way high, like a foot high at 10 yards. I've been toying with the idea of makeing a clamp on front sight. Life is too busy now, but someday...

Here's a pic of the ammo. 460gn hollow base. The 12yo son thinks he needs one for a backup piece for hunting hogs.
