The left door
Some TC stuff, sorry not in focus.
Various single actions that don't fit on the door.
Other stuff that doesn't fit on a door.
Then their's the house pistols, carry pieces... that are all in their places and didn't come out for picture day.
I need a bigger room.

boom sticklove the 50-110 bear smasher!
03 May 2007, 10:08
SAFARIKIDYes,it kicks a tad!..I first shot it as you see it with 50 Alaskans and it was a wallop...Then I had a brainstorm and sent it back to Jack and said since the cylinder is 3" long, rebore it for the 50/110 and he loved the idea, but I said, lets port it to to hold it down some.He did a killer job on some neat ports on the end, more like slots than holes.I then scoped it with a Aimpoint Silver and when out and now tried the 50/110 with 600grs(450's before in the AK rnd)..Well,with the ports and the weight of the scope n mnts,it was easier on the hand!!Bravo, more power, less pain!....But,I have another one at Jacks now that is identical, but for 5" barrel and black micarta grips. It will be my Backup I guess?!I know it will look cool with the 5" Octagon and std size grips! The big one is enagraved/named "ThunderBeast" and the lil one may be MightyMouse??!!

Nacho91180Here is my 500 maximum Mini Beast Encore
That 500 Max Mini-Beast looks great. How loud is it with the comp on?
I have a 309 JDJ on a 12" TC 30-30 hunter bbl and the comp on it is very painful to shoot without earplugs in.
I don't practice without earplugs, but you should be able to take a quick shot at game without stopping to put in earplugs.
I shot the 309JDJ once without earplugs and my ears hurt for almost 2 weeks. I haven't really shot it much after that.
Nice gun.

Nacho91180Lar45,
I really don't know exactly how loud it is. I always use protection. I haven't had a chance to hunt with it yet so I'm really no help at all. One thing is for sure, the recoil is greatly reduced.
06 May 2007, 06:48
Woodrow SYep, but the recoil is still a sumbitch though!

from what I have learned about loud weapons...it is always best to have someone else tell you how loud it is then you tell others.
In other words, bring it to deer camp and let a cocky hunter shoot your pistol

I had a hunter bring his .454 out 2 years ago and I couldn't hear for a few hours after shooting it. Pack ear protection everywhere!

WhitworthI don't like to hunt with hearing protection. On the range or checking the zero before the hunt most definitely, but I want to hear well leading up to squeezing off that shot.........sorry for the thread highjack......

BuglemintodayNo doubt I am the same way whitworth!
But as far as pistol hunting my experience is limited...but I know they are louder to the shooter imo.
I bought some Tactical 6 backband ear muffs with sound dampening and amplifying and I plan on trying them out when my SRH 454 comes in!

WhitworthI've hunted with my SRH .454 and it certainly is loud! But they all are to some degree!! I don't really notice it till afterwards (this applies to recoil as well!)......
Bugle, do you reload?

Nice pics fellas!
Nashcat I just brought home a Savage Striker today. It's a Model 516FSS in .243Win. I'm hoping to put it through its paces this weekend and see if it's worth keeping. Somethings got to be done with the trigger though, it's nasty. If it works out I'll replace the 4X Simmons and probably thread the barrel for a muzzle brake.
Mine came with a Harris bipod and the Simmons scope and has the black composite stock. What can you tell me about these guns and what can be done to improve them? Parts?
08 May 2007, 08:22

NashcatDEC, congrats of getting a Striker. One of the best trigger improvements is a SAV-3 drop-in sear from Rifle Basix, but they have quit making it for the Striker. I managed to find/buy one today, on another web site this afternoon, and occasionally they will show up on the auction sites. They will adjust from 15 oz to 1.5 lb. Forget adding a muzzle brake. You won't need it. I leave the brake turned off when shooting the 7mm-08 and 308. We also leave the brake turned off when shooing my buddies 300WSM Striker.
Here's a better pic of my 308 at the range.
