| Thank you Peter, Now, what type of performance should I expect with this bullet on deer and hogs. Is is supposed to be rapidly expanding, or more for penetration? |

| Flat points generally do not expand. Silhouette bullets are designed to transfer all their energy to the target. Penetration will probably be a function of the jacket construction which I do not know. I use flat points in some of my handguns as they are more accurate than the HPs. Off hand I would say that penetration would be better than HPs but, again, it depends on construction. Peter.

| here they are, not a great picture, but you can see the point, profile, and rear. The side of the box states: 41 cal. 210 gr. .410 JTC-SIL (guessing the SIL is for sillhouette?) |

| I shot this type bullet in a 44mag (250gr) with top end loads and will say that it worked real good for big hogs that needed the penetration but it would be a bad choice for deer type game...they are just too tough for light game and won't expand. |

| I'll second what Woodrow said. The meplat is a bit on the small side to create a wound channel of any significant size. It will punch two holes in a deer though.

| Those will perform like a full metal jacket. There was a theory that sihlouette bullets with a small amount of lead exposed would have a "gumball effect" and sort of stick to the metallic targets on impact and thus transfer more energy on impact, thus the exposed core. The bullets didn't actually stick to the target mind you but the theory was that it helped transfer the energy but with the thick jackets, they were never meant to expand.

A bullet strike is an enelastic collision, therefore there is no conservation of energy only a conservation of momentum. The bullets transfer all of there "momentum" not "energy"

| I do appreciate all the replies. This bullet is discontinued anyway, so I decided to just use them for targets. Even if it turned out to be incredible, I can't get anymore. what's the point? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. |
