I shot my new 454 Ruger SRH today. I had 2 boxes of Winchester 260 gr factory ammo. I shot rounds from both boxes. Velocity was 1680 fps and accuracy good! The rated velocity for these factory loads are 1800 fps according to Winchester. However the cases refused to extract from the chambers! I had to use a dowel to remove them. (Actually 2-3 rounds stuck from each cylinderfull). I stopped after 12 shots. Has anyone ever experienced this before with factory ammo? Any unput? ------------------ "We should not say the Greeks fight like heroes. We should say that heroes fight like Greeks"... Winston Churchill

Yeah, it happened to mine. Surprise! It was also with the Winchester loads. I have now fired the CorBon,Hornaday and my own reloads. I have not experienced the problem since I stopped using the Winchester loads.

It could be a combination of rough chambers and soft brass. Are there any visible marks on the outside of the brass cases (other than the ones caused by pounding them out of the cylinder)? George P.S. I TOLD you not to buy that Ruger ------------------

My brother has the SRH and has fired the Winchester loads without a problem. However, for what it's worth, I have a friend at the Olin plant where this stuff is made and he politely refused to shoot this combination when offered -- and he shoots everything else we own.

It is not the brass or the loads after all. It is the gun and it is on its way back to Ruger. I shot it today with different loads including handloads with a stering charge all the way to 1gr under max. Every load had the same problem regardless. What a bummer. ------------------ "We should not say the Greeks fight like heroes. We should say that heroes fight like Greeks"... Winston Churchill
