| If it's a caliber I've never worked with before, I usually start with the accuracy loads in the Sierra book if they're listed there. Otherwise, I'll look in the Hornady or Nosler manuals and perhaps Steve's Pages too. Normally, there's something in one of those locations. Then, I'll try a little bit faster and slower powders just to get an idea. After I've selected the powder, I start on seating depth. Also, when I first start out, seating depth is the recommended OAL. Hope this helps some. Bear in Fairbanks
