The load quoted from ramshot was start 58gns 26-2700fps max 65 2950-3050(140gn bullet). I have been using 61gns of 4831sc and getting 3050 +- 25fps max pressure signs.. Today I tried ramshot mag starting at 61gns to 65gns,velocity was 2700fps for 61gns and 2870 for 65gns which supposedly max load, however there are no signs of pressure the primer is nowhere near as flat as it is with the 4831sc.. Is it possible that max load is not max load and is deliberately low.. or how likely is it that the chrono is faulty... As I only have one chrono I cannot compare against another..Another factor is that I have quite a substantial quantity of RS.. any comments quite gladly appreciated.. regards griff

The RamShot Magnum is quite a bit slower than H4831sc, closer to H1000. It won't build pressure as quickly. Max loads vary with powder mfrs and guns. ________________________ "Every country has the government it deserves." - Joseph de Maistre

I've never had as good a result w/ 4831 as I've had w/ slower powders. (I still have a stash of H870 which is my goto powder for the 264.) Have had decent results w/ Retumbo and RL25. Itching to try US869. Try the Magnum and report on it for us.
