I'm reloading my 6.5-06 with Barnes xxx 130 grain bullets. I've read that the bullet should be aprox. 0.50 off the lands. Is this true? I never used Barnes before.

I DON'T THINK SO . A half inch is quite a lot. It all depends on what your rifle likes.Frownerroger

.050" is just a starting pt.,
shoot some groups at this length
then go shorter and longer, keeping all other variables constant and tune in to best groups.
hope this helps,
