I'm looking for a sub sonic 223 load to replace my Dads 22 hornet he stole back
I would like to use a Hornaday 60 grain V-max
at around 1200 fps or a little less.
As far as powders go what ever it takes,as long as it is clean burning, so it wouldn't gum up my AR-15.
If it doese not cycle the action no big deal [Confused]

1200 fps ain't subsonic. Gotta be under 1050 at sea level. I would not be comfortable going that low with jacketed bullets. Too easy to stick one in the bore.

You could do it with cast, easily.

Speers reloading manual, 13th edition, has reduced loading for the .223, but I dont know what the velocity.

1.5 - 2.0 gr. of bullseye gives gives .22 LR performance and incredible accuracy out to 100 yards. This is with cast bullets, I don't recommend trying to use jacketed.
