<Greg Morrow>Sub-Sonic .223 load data
I'm looking for a sub sonic 223 load to replace my Dads 22 hornet he stole back
I would like to use a Hornaday 60 grain V-max
at around 1200 fps or a little less.
As far as powders go what ever it takes,as long as it is clean burning, so it wouldn't gum up my AR-15.
If it doese not cycle the action no big deal

Leftoverdj1200 fps ain't subsonic. Gotta be under 1050 at sea level. I would not be comfortable going that low with jacketed bullets. Too easy to stick one in the bore.
You could do it with cast, easily.

Ben_WazzuSpeers reloading manual, 13th edition, has reduced loading for the .223, but I dont know what the velocity.

andrew3751.5 - 2.0 gr. of bullseye gives gives .22 LR performance and incredible accuracy out to 100 yards. This is with cast bullets, I don't recommend trying to use jacketed.
