does anyone have 5.56 load data for 50 and 55 grain bullets.
i have worked up a fairly accurate load but I have a short stroking issue in the ar 15.
Federal factory ammo is fine, bu very inaccurate, my reloads are accurate but it will not pick up next round in mag, ejects fine.
any ideas?

Short stroking can be a result of a too weak load. Most powders used in the M196 and M855 loads were around 25 grains of powder.
As for the AR-15... make sure the ends of the gas rings are not in line with one another.
The magazine lips are not bent.
The follower and it's spring are free to move.
your bullets are not touching the front of the magazine.
The action is clean and lubed.
You have the correct recoil spring installed.
Your gas tube securing pin is in place.
As for my go-to load, I use the 55 grain FMJ over 25 grains of BL-c(2() powder.
I use this load out to 800 yards with very good results ( calm day)
Many of my friends swear by 2400 powder

Correct buffer & spring? Try 55g vmax & 25g to 26g varget that combo is super accurate in 7,8 & 9 twist bbls in 8 of my ar's tu2

There are 5.56 NATO loads in the latest Hornady manual starting with the 55 grain bullet. I have that on Kindle books trying to find a way to copy and paste it here. I'll keep trying.

i answered your post in small bores with

increasing gas port size
changing powder type and or grains
moving to a shorter length gas port (rifle, mid carbine, shorter)
heavier bullet

I like running rifle length gas systems on an 18" barrel - so i go buy "brown bear" and other junk grade ammo, and drill out the port, by trial and error, until it runs junk ammo, and it tends to work out great on everything else.

rapid rob I checked all that already and it's good.
i will try the varget powder and see if that helps.
This is my first build, works great with Federal 55 g fmj's but handloads don't pick up next round, ejects fine.
