Is it good practice to crimp a .30-caliber target bullet that does not have a cannelure?

IMO one only crimps bullets with a cannelure. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Winston Churchill

I agree. If there's nothing to crimp like a groove or cannelure, then crimping should be avoided. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

For target shooting all crimps are detrimental to good accuracy whether there's a crimp groove or not. velocity is like a new car, always losing value. BC is like diamonds, holding value forever.

crimping where there is no groove wil squeeze the bullet. the copper and lead spring back at different rates leaving a gap between the jacket and core. can't be good for accuracy.
