this gotta be the most dumb ass post ive ever seen.
instead of complaining, and you wouldnt be complaining if you wernt buying or trying to buy
primers powder ect, this means YOU are part of the problem. be a part of the solution , quit shooting, lead the way
-----pay attention--- join the NRA, find out whats going on in America
find out the meanings of words like --transnationalism-
common sense gun controll --activist judges (as in supreme court).
nobody is sending OFK (obama fum kenya )a message he's gonna get what he wants

W. WilsonI have to admit I don't have any use for those who hoarded simply for the purpose of profiting from what has happened since toadie took over. I, however, was concerned of the beginnings of component shortage that started back in Dec. So I got some extra powder primers, and bullets mainly in case the prices went up later. Except for the case like the Varget on GB the prices haven't gotten as bad as I thought they would by now, and the tide may have turned for the better.

Who would have suspected last Christmas that by Memorial Day our economy, banking and auto industries would be commanded directly from DC? With more to follow, health care will be rationed soon, gas will be taxed to the $4 range, all the states budgets will have to be passed on by DC,firearms and ammuniton will be much more tightly controlled and taxed, etc. All for the children's sake of course.
If you didn't KNOW (not suspect) it by then you had your economic common sense buried completely in the sand or some other part of your anatomy. The banking and auto industries (among others) house of cards was already way past failing by then, and, hey, guess what, it had NOTHING to do with Obama........

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.
I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I buy primers by the thopusand and when I an down to a couple hundred, I USED to go buy more. No problems until idiots started buying 10-15,000 just to sell at an inflated price. Have you looked on GunBroker at primers lately? NONE of the local stores have any primers and damn little powder. How do you feel about the guy I mentioned who bought 5000 rounds of 9mm for a gun he doesn't have just to sell.

tiggertateWell, it's called capitalism. The guy saw an opportunity and acted. He could well end up losing money if the price drops before he dumps them. Just like emu eggs or assult rifles when the ban expired, someone gets left holding the bag at the end of the panic. He took the risk with his own money, he deserves the reward if he makes it. We're talking a recreational item here, not like gasoline or another essential.
FWIW, you had the same opportunity he had, and didn't take it for what ever reason. So you can't claim any unfairness. I buy primers 10-15,000 at a time for economy of scale and inflation hedging if for no other reason.

When I was reacting to the 1994 AWB, I would built FALs, and buy ARs, SKSs, and AKs.
Now I seem to just work on Mausers.

But what's becoming apparent is that Democrats from a lot of western states (not CA) and "rural districts" are persuading/informing their Democratic colleagues that "gun control" legislation is a losing issue.
HOLDER raised the AWB issue just recently in a Cabinet meeting and was told to STFU.
In the meantime, the current surge is sales is sending a message, and Washington DC is listening -- maybe.
You are an Obama supporter. The message you sent is that you're crazy.

actually, i have been charting the prices, and they are on a SHARP down turn ... local stores ARE getting primers, sir .. perhaps not all over, but in the 4th largest metro area in the coutry, we have primers on the shelves
the guy who bought 5k 9mm to resale..
yes? he bought them from someone who's intention was to resale them .. SO WHAT?
the PURCHASER sets the price, why is that hard to understand?

djpaintlesThe only guys that really piss me off are the ones who buy up all the ammo or components at a given store just to try and resale it for a profit. I guess in truth it's just a free market system but to me it seems like shooters taking advantage of other shooters, I try to not be that way with my freinds and fellow shooters. I'm in this for fun and it's more fun for me to go shooting with others, so I've shared some and loaded some for other guys too so we can ALL enjoy our hobby.
I do keep pretty large stocks of primers, bullets and powder on hand because I shoot a lot. I've been able to maintain adequate inventories by simply buying what I can buy when it's at a normal price. One of my local stores had primers in stock and I was able to buy 1000 each of small pistol, small rifle and large pistol for $32 each. A little higher than it used to be but not ridiculous. Another store got in Varget (they sold 40 8lb kegs in 5hrs) and I was able to get some for just a couple dollars more per keg than last year.
My advice is to be patient and buy a reasonable quantity of stuff you use when you see it for sale at normal prices. Stores should limit purchases per person to spread around supplies.
Things should return to normal before too long and hopefully there will be a lot of stashed up ammo and components we can all go shooting with!.................................DJ
....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

The more painful the free market can make something, the faster the free market responds.

I went to Graf's in St. Charles, MO yesterday and bought a pound of H-110. The price surprised me-$22.00 out the door-not bad at all. They have NO primers except 209 Shotshell. I inquired and they said they are not even taking orders for any primers, suppliers out of stock and no idea when they will arrive.

horsefly2With all the political crap going on, here's an upside for you. My wife got so enraged with the government that she took the firearms safety course, got her license to carry permit, and joined the NRA!!!!
64,999,987 legal firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

Yep. You have to wonder about a lot of those panicky idiots. I can't figure out how they manage to tie their shoes in the morning.
I have routinely kept about 1000 primers and maybe somewhere between 10-20 lbs. of various powders on hand for, like, the last 30 years. I run out, I buy more. Now, because of these jokers, I can't do that. What components I do find are prohibitively priced (supply and demand) and not being a man of means that results in a lot less shooting. Thanks a lot.
Better stop now before I get all worked up and start cussing and kick the cat!
Our local mom & pop general store( sold everything, clothes to hardware, plumbing supplies, sporting goods, although they did loose their FFL about 3 years ago) went out of business. I did pick up some primers, probably about 3000, a couple of pounds of powder, all of the Hornady .405 Win bullets they had after they got marked down to half price, and a box of gas checks for my 35 Rem. This was because prices were good for this year.
I made a trip over to N Louisiana , a 200 mile trip, where I have another house, and picked up about 8 pounds of powder which I was unable to find here.
Now if I find anyting it seems to be at Gander mountain and I generally want some odd stuff they do not carry, so will deal with the folks in N Louisiana more, at least they have some stock. Anyting in my E. Texas area is at least 40 miles away, so when the opportunity arises I stock up a bit.
My last ammo purchase was for some 32-20, the local mom & pop, $35 for 50, 40 miles away up in Tyler almost 60. Went to a gun show in Jackson, Ms with my son last Nov. and cleaned them out at $24/box. Economics more than hoarding.
I have two calibers, one of which ammo is not availabe, a 41 Swiss (a rimfire, converted to centerfire) for which I have to make brass from either 348 Win or 8mm Lebel. It's not alwas available so I bought and converted enough to last me a lifetime plus a little. The other a 9.3x57 Mauser, components are available by mail oreder but try to find some in a store or at a gun show, you get the deer in the headlight look. I stocked up on some brass and bullets, who knows when supplies on this odd stuff will dry up.
Everything else, I just slowly accumulated, pre Obama, and will not worry about it.
