Remington Buys Out Barnes Bullets

I can't follow the Remington.com link here at work, but if this is true, I wonder what that will do to a company (Barnes) that has proven very innovative over the years??

It would be great if we'd start seeing Barnes bullets in Remington factory ammo (for those of us who choose not to reload). It would be a pity if the excellent Barnes product line-up was degraded...

My guess is that what Remington wants is the technology rather than the product line. Part of phasing lead out of shooting.

The green types have found a villain (lead) and are using it to adversely affect another of their chosen targets.

Possibly but CNC turning copper isn't a difficult technology at all.

Many bullet manufacturers have highly marketable trade names.....among them are Nosler Particians, Swift A-Frames, and Accubonds.

Any reputable mfr of ammo could profit by merely owning the right to market their product as such.

Just to clarify....Remington didn't buy them but the company that owns remington did. That company (I think) also owns Marlin, Bushmaster, Dakota, and a number of other shooting companies.

I guess I should of put the parnet company that own Remington also purchased Barnes.

Wasn't too long ago we use to buy Bulk Rem bullet for about 1/2 of what they change now. It will be great if the keep the two companies separte but you can see that someone is going to have a big chuck of the market on solid copper bullets in alot of calibers. Nolser/Hornady are playing catch up.

Sad to say that Remington isn't owned by Remington. A new company was formed that includes the holdings of Remington, Bushmaster, and several other companies. Remington was owned by the same company that owned Chrysler, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C...s_Capital_Management
Reading the SEC filing for Freedom, it would seem that Cerebrus has been puting it's firearms companies in one group since 2006.

I always joked that they should have put a certificate for the Remington AR-10 together with the Dodge Ram.

And this is where it becomes probematic. Venture Capital companies are famous for taking the cash out of companies and running them into the ground. I hope it doesn't happen here.

As for Cliff, they SURE DID have a bunch of money to take out of dakota, didn't they? Second bankrupty in the minimum legal times means NO CASH.

Yeah -- remington charges the most for their ammo and bullets today.. NO WAIT A SECOND .. they are the low cost LEADER in components.
