Have a look at my "new", "home made" brass tumbler. It was made from an old industrial vibratory feeder. How well does it work? How long in the swim before the cases are shiny-bright? I run mine (when I use it, preferring to clean ultra-sonically) for two hours. But then, I'm a real meanie...

It ain't pretty, but if it does the job what more can you ask. I am a firm believer in DYI when possible. ema39

The stuff I've cleaned in it so far is to that was left over frrom the guy that gave me the parts. really nasty from sitting in a barn, in the media having gotten wet sometime in the years it sat there. It took quite a while for that. I will try it with some fresh media and my usual once fireds soon. I'm thinking of buying crushed walnut shells next time the corn cob media seems a little wimpy to me. It looked to me in the video like the cases were just goin' 'round and 'round. My Midway tumbler makes them go in a vertical as well a horizontal rotation. I think you might be able to affect this by attaching some kind of an inverted funnel to the bottom. Worth a shot if you're a tinkerer. Or you could just tell me to go pound sand...

homebrewer that was the case when I first turned it on. What you can't see is that the pot is bolted to the vibratory feeder with 3 bolts. To one of these bolts I attached a 1" wide 4" long piece of sheet metal. This actually causes a disturbance in the circular flow of the material and I bent it to about a 70 degree angle. This brings the cases to the top then drops them back down on the other side. I need to put two more of these (on the remaining mounting bolts) and possibly reduce the amount of media in the pot to get the best results. I will post fresh video when I have accomplished this. I could see some cases that were on top, go under as the swirl went counter-clockwise. Proof is in the pudding. Corn cob is for polishing. Walnut shell is for getting off the burnt on residue. So, at least for me, it is a 2 step process...first, the walnut shells, then the corncob with some extra polish added.

The spot where you could see the cases going under is where that piece of metal is bolted. Even my spell checker wants to replace Obama, it just doesn't have any suggestions. jerry.baldwin06@comcast.net

Lizard bedding? Or something else just as dumb. But I have read reports that it is more prone to stick in the primer pocket than that made specifically for cleaning brass cases.
