What powder / bullet weight combination have you found work with this caliber and twist rate. (8" twist users only please)

I have a Tikka T3 which has an 8" twist. Primarily interested in lighter weight bullet options for varmint hunting.

69 gr should be fine, 77 gr may.
Work up to 24 +/- gr of Varget, go shooting.

I had a 22-250 AI built a few years ago with a 1/6 twist to utilize the Sierra 80 G. bullets (of which I have quite a few).I agree with drm as to the 69 G. I read an article by Glen Zedicker about using an extended mag, at Camp Perry w/the 80G. bullet. My thoughts were of using the 40 deg. shoulder on the AI to increase velocity + thus bypassing the gravity issue.Academic at this point as the guy who "built" the rifle totally screwed up + my eyes are not good enough to build another myself.

Never mistake motion for action.

A few years ago I stuck my toe in Highpower. I had a half used up 1x8 upper on a CMP Service Rifle legal AR. It shot 69, 77, and 80 grain SMKs fine. I didn’t hand load for this rifle but used Black Hills reloads.

8 twist is the borderlands --it should shoot heavier bullets well, and will do okay with the very light stuff -- i use 8s, and 9s twist, usually -- ... i always have great results with the black hills 69gr matchkings for accuracy and results on rabbits and hogs --- treat them as a solid and you won't be disappointed .... NO expansion

on the lighter bullets, accuracy isn't as good as in slower twist barrels -- just aint ... but those are VERY frangible

I look for consistently less than 2" at 200y and these loads give me that in my 1/8" T3-223:

N50bt 25.5 gr H335, Rem 7.5BR primer, 3175 fps
N50bt 27.9 gr TAC, Rem 7.5BR, 3317 fps
B55Ttsx 24.5 gr H-335, Fed 205, 3025 fps
B55mpg 27.5 CFE223, F205, 3178fps
N55bt 26.0 H335, F205, 3158 fps
B62Ttsx 27.0 A-2520, F205, 3100fps
Sie69mhp, 25.5 TAC, F205, 2939 fps
The Sie69mhp is my rifle's favorite bullet; I'm hoping the Sie65sp performs as well.
All velocities with Magnetospeed.
No pressure signs in my rifle; yours may vary, work up.

Factory ammo that works:
BH68mhp, 2800fps
BH50vmx, 3281fps
BH52mhp, 3137fps
FedPrem N55bt, 3206fps
Horn Match 75bthp, 2811fps
