Instead of throwing out gun magazines which you don't keep on file, send them to the troops. If you go to anysoldier.com, there is a search function which tells you which soldiers want which items. Most of them want various personal items but there are always a few guys who ask for gun magazines for their units.
I save Rifle and Handloader but subscribe to several other gun and hunting magazines. I collect these and when I have enough to fill up a $4.05 Priority Mail fixed rate envelope, I send a bunch of them off. You have to tape on a customs declaration card, today I marked it "ten old magazines" weight 4 lbs, gift, value zero. You can also use a Priority Mail box for $8.10 if you can fill it up.
I do the same with my car magazines - more soldiers want them than gun magazines, I am sorry to say.
Did that 2 years ago, told soldier to not leave when he rotated hom.......as far as I know, pornography, etc. is screened from entering country as to not offend laws of that country. r in s.
