For $25 Lee will custom make one of their Factory Crimp Dies for me in 450 NE 3.25". I've used their FCD in handgun calibers, but never in rifle. Admittedly, the 'factory' crimp in the 450 was of the stabbed-crimp type, but I was wondering if anyone out there had had experience with this die. Thanks. C_B

I had one made for a 470NE about a year and a half ago and it works just fine.

Do you need to crimp your 450 NE. I was told that a crimp was not necessary. That when full length resizing there is enough friction to hold the bullet without problems. Would like to have others comment on this.

I´ve had uncrimped bullets back into the cartridge in the .416 Rigby -loads were not max.

Had Lee make a factory crimp die for my 470 NE and 416 Rigby. Works like a charm, easy on the brass as well. The 470 and 416 required the "larger" 1-1/2 12 die bodies so the cost were ~$50 bucks shipped.

True, crimping may not be necessary.

But as Saeed's tests show, crimping with the Lee Factory Crimp Die increases accuracy by a small but significant amount.

How long did it take Lee to make your die? Their website says 6-8 weeks.... C_B

I submitted two separate orders with a dummy round (which they return)....took 2-3 weeks for each one.

Just make sure your press can handle the large die body and you're good to go.
