What do you use to pull bullets in a large case like the .416 Rigby?
The cases won't fit in my kinetic puller.
(Shooting the bullets out is not an option either.)

I use an RCBS collet style bullet puller...collets are separte purchase

I just used my RCBS collet puller to pull ten rounds of .416 Rigby to reduce the charge. Works great, took less than 10 minutes. They are damn handy little tools and not that expensive.

I use a pair of side cutters with padded jaws, while not fancy, it does the job. Put the cartridge in your shell holder in the press without the die, pad the side cutters, stroke the press when the bullet sticks above the hole in the press where the die is absent, grip the bullet very firmly with the side cutters, downstroke and your bullet will pull out. Remember to pad the outside and jaws of the side cutters or you will damage your press. Good luck and good shooting.

I do the same except I use a farmer's wire pinchers. They don't need padding and with a little practice you will leave a very small mark on the bullet.

Bullets pulled this way are definitely reloadable.

Won't the .416 collet work?

I bought three collets with mine, .416, .45 and .474. I have found that the .416 works fine for the Rigby but that as Jeffe was alluding to the .45 works better for the .470. Go figure.

While I will not argue with other posts that suggest that they have a good way to handle, it is hard for me to see how there could be an easier way than the RCBS bullet puller. It works like a charm (except on bullets seated too deeply, more on that below) and it is under $20.

I did experience a problem and developed a fix yesterday for bullets seated too deeply. No need to go into why the bullet was too deep . . . , but I simply took a pair of pliers and scored the bullet to give the collet something to really grab onto and it came right out. Bullet was probably reusable although I trashed.

I just the .451 collet for 416, 458, 451, and 475 bullets.,,, it's tapered more than enough to do that with.. works like a charm
