I shoot a Remington 700 VSS in .223. My problem is that every case mouth is dented upon ejection, creating a lot of work on the brass.

It seems simply, but am I missing anything by simply lopping off ejection spring sections until the problem stops?

thanks for any replies - 'chuck season's just round the corner.

I would would remove the ejector!

You dont have to look for the emtys on the ground if you miss to catch them and the dent problem will dissapear [Big Grin]

If you can remove the ejector then you can shorten it's spring or replace the spring with a lighter one.

But A lighter ejector spring in like savage99 told you, or in a pinch cut the spring in there. I think A lighter spring helps in the accuracy department to. I always put A lighter spring in all my hunting rifles. Target guns I remove them.
