I have a problem with a set of Hornady New Dimension Dies. The re-sizing die to be specific.
It is 39/1000" off centre.
I have sent more than a few emails to Hornady over the past few weeks asking for some comment or help with not even the courtesy of a computer generated reply.
Am I being anal about the off centre tolerance?
My old RCBS dies are less than 6/1000" on my lathe clock.

The problem is the RCBS dies load ammo which gives superb groups - .28" my best and .50" my worst.
The Hornady give 1.25" groups and larger using the identical components.

Sadly, I had already donated the RCBS dies to a poorly paid police buddy of mine otherwise there would not be a problem.
I have "borowed" them back to load but in the interim it would be nice if Hornady amswered my mails....even if they told me to sod off! Mad

Seems like bad service to me. Does it work for you to call them?? Have you got a runnout gauge and can check the runnout of the loaded ammo??

Send them the dies back, and ask for them to be fixed... after all, they aint workin now, so why should they work any worse while shipping.

I understand the Long distance charge is huge, but they have always been pretty darn good on the phone... and when I wore out my 45 LC dies, they gave me a new set

I must say that Hornady has bent over backwards to help me out and I have found their technical support great.
The TOLL FREE # is 1-800-338-3220.
Give 'em a ring and see if they don't help- The one time I tried to e mail a ? I was told that they receive over 800 per week and even though they answer them all, it takes a few weeks to wade through the backlog.
Hope this helps.

I wonder how helpful that number is for a guy in South Africa.

Write Steve Johnson at Hornady directly, and I'll bet he takes care of it.

E-mail SJohnson@Hornady.com

I sent a letter to RSA with 30 fmj .375 steel clad bullets several years ago.

It took six weeks and $14 in postage to get it there.

Returning dies to Grand Island from RSA just isn't a good option.

I think eventually Hornady will just ship new dies .....but not even sure it's legal either.

RSA has shitty new laws. I see a $20 solution with a $150 implimentation tag.

Optimism is bleak here.

Try that direct e-mail address. I bet emails from customer service are getting blocked as spam.

I'd probably buy new dies, I doubt any solution is going to be quick.

Vapo,
I had a reply from your lad this am.
We are trying to sort this problem out with the inclusion of the local agent here. It is apparently a hassle to get an export permit to send even a set of dies out of USA. Confused

Have Steve send the dies to me, and I'll bring them with me to RSA in April, and post them down to you in Durban>

Just package the die up and send it back to the customer service dept. and include a note with in the package with a description of the problem. Chances are you will get a new die back with a nice note of appollagy. They do not actually make the dies I don't believe and it is a case of quality control failure in the production process, no matter who makes them.

DO DO DO accour!

Hornady does in fact make their own dies.
