Larry B,

Please DO let me know how this project works out for you. I use the SP tool quite a lot and at the present time could use about four more new modified cases. I have also had the thought of just drilling and tapping my own cases, especially for the wildcats. Not a huge money saver but when you need it yesterday a huge TIME savings.

Larry,
I tried taking my O.A.L. gauge to a hardware store to see what would fit. The size tap you're looking for isn't correct according to what I was able to find and what my gunsmith told me. The tap seems to be a unique one. That makes sense for them. If it were easy to get a tap and make our own they would lose some profit.

That tap IS 5/16 X 36tpi. They are available from any well stocked industrial supplier, or they are available directly from Stoney Point. They get about $15 for them. The industrial suppliers sell them for around $10.
