Sierra 4th Edition

VV 160 NOT listed but VV 140 is with a Max of 37.3 grains

H4350 NOT listed but IMR-4350 is with a Max of 42.9 grains

RL 19 NOT listed

You might try Stevespages...he's got a good database.

Thanks, looks like Sierra have a different view on 243 powders for 85gr bullets than do Nosler, Speer and Hornady! Can you tell me what they reccomend?

Gidday 1894mk2,

ADI who manufacture H4350 give a book max of 45.5 grains for AR2209 (H4350) for a book velocity of 3214 from a 24" barrel.

We are getting 3040 approx with 42.2gr from a 24" remington 700 and it is death toeverything we have tried it on up to red deer.

Here is there site:ADI POWDERS

Happy Hunting

What they recommend as the best is exactly the same for hunting and accuracy load.

IMR-4064 37.3 grs and that is NOT max..Max is 38.6 grs

Hope that helped....My cheapest, ugliest 243 shoots almost everything I feed it MOA. I do like the caliber.

The Lyman manual 42nd Edition does have a load for RL 19 although, not for the other two powders, for your 85 gr Sierra HPBT. They call for a max of 46 grs of RL 19. BUT, their recommended powder is H-4831 w/ a max of 46.5 grs. and it is a compressed load.

i believe the all time great accuracy load for 243 was 41.5 gr of 4350 and the 85 br sierra BTHP. I've loaded up to 44 grains, but usually come back to that 41.5 load
