600 yds sound kind of whimpy with a 5o BMG. we shoot 800,900 and 1000 yds with black powder and lead bullets at the Lodi WI. range.

RCHAPURA, you are correct that 600yds is not anywhere near 'extreme' shooting, but that is not the purpose of the shoot. The club that the shoot is being held at HAS 800, 900, and 1000yd lines BUT, how many people have ever shoot these distances let alone with any regularity? I get on the 600-1000yd line at least 2-4 times a month, sometimes up to 8 if I have the time, from 3 to 10 hours a stay. Heck, yorick & I were shooting the 600yd line on Tue. We (you, yorick, others, and me) are in the minority of having a long range facility on hand. This is why it will be a 600yd shoot, so everyone can get on paper and stay in the 36" black circle and probably hit the 6" X ring a few times. Too many .50 BMG shooter do not shoot enough, let alone at all, this is a shame. Most of the reason for lack of shooting is a lack of a range. I'm trying to get shooters together so they can cap off a few rounds, meet fellow BMG shooters, and get comfortable with their guns. If you have a BMG, I'd enjoy seeing you there. Have a good one.
