One of the powders three of us are experimenting with is WCC846. Is anybody else doing anythig with that powder? We are getting some very interesting results and wonder who else is getting what? Please communicate your findings and we will share what we have.So far there are no safety issues. Smilerroger

I'm using 25.5gr of the stuff under a 55gr FMJ bullet for my AR-15. I buy the bullets & powder from Hi-Tech Ammo. Using pulldown powder & bullets sure makes for some cheap shooting.

The WC846 also flows extremely well through my powder measure.

The batch of wcc846 that I have is very hot. I had to go a full 30% under recommended loads to be safe.

I would say start out very low with this powder.

I have 16lbs. of WC-846 so, I'm very interested in its uses especially the use of standard or mag primers in various calibers.
I have read that the "standard ball" load was 28.5grs. behind the 55gr. FMJ. I've loaded up to 26.5, using a mag primer, but I'm not interested in max velocity anyway.
I had to use mag primers in 7.62x54R to avoid lots of duds.
I've loaded .243/70gr., with standard primers, and had no problems with ignition.
Next, 6.5x55, which I've been told, will ignite with standard primers.

waveWe bought 40 # of WCC846 and each of us is working out of different jugs. The jugs have no lot numbers. The accompanying information says to use BL-C-2 loading data. It so happens we use a fair quantity of WCC844 and that is suppose tp be close to 335. None of it was gotten from HI-TECH.

In everything we have loaded so far about 5 to7% more powder is needed to get the book velocities listed for BL-C-2. Velocities were measured on my Oehler. There is no sign of high pressure.

There is usually a lot of Kaaaboooom, muzzle flash and visable smoke.Often the necks are sooty and with reduced loads the soot is evident on the bodies of the cases as well.Carberator cleaner seems to remove the abundant residue in the barrel with a little extra effort.

There are mainly 6 rifles that have sufficiant testing with the WCC846.

A CZ mod. 527 American in .222 ,light barrel, Has produced 3 shots 1 hole at 50 yds.

A Ruger Mod. 77 Varmint .257 Roberts circa 1972 tang safety, regularly puts 10 shots in a nickel size hole at 100 yds..

3 new Ruger varmints, .223, .22-250 and a .243
the .222 will shoot under an inch at 100yds.
the .22-250 will put 5 shots in less than 1/2" at 100 yds.
the .243 will put 5 shots in 3/8" at 50 yds.

The last rifle is a Ruger .270 circa 1970.light barrel, It will shoot under and inch at 100yds.

We've used the 846 in other rifles but not to any great extent. One load in my 6.5x55 Military yielded a 4 shot 1/2" group at 50 yds.

An 8mm scout ,1 1/2 power scope, Military barrel, 9 shots 1 1/2" at 50 yds.

I failed to say except for the .222 and .223 we used WLRM primers. The .222 and the .223 used WSR non Magnum primers.roger

WC 846 is "speced" to the same specifications as BL-C2. Of course, there is a much larger variation in bulk manufacturing lots than in "cannister grade" powders, so "mileage may vary".

I find WC 846 to be better than WC 844 (H-335 -specs) in cases larger than the .223. It's velocity-pressure ratio is superior in cases like .308, 8x57, .300 Savage, and .30-30, all of which I load it in. WC 844 seems a little better in the .222/.223 family than WC 846.

I find no problems using "standard" force primers with WC 846.

Would someone please post the 6.5x55, and 8x57, loads using this powder.
From what I've read, and experienced, the two cartridges that need mag primers with WC-846 are 8x56R and 7.62x54R.

Any of you out there used 844 or 846 in 45-70? I've loaded some rounds with each, but haven't had a chance to shoot them. The loads are 54.0 and 56.0 of 844, and 54.0, 56.0, and 58.0 of 846. I'm using Rem 405gr JSP's. BTW, the rifle is a Siam Mauser.

Use WC 846 for my service rifles...7.62 in my rebarreled M1 and M1a types. Put in 32#'s from GIBRASS in KY, good consistency so far.
