I may be the only one here who actually misses Hot Core, but I do. He often spoke with lots of hyperbole to make a point, but I believe many of the points he made deserved more consideration than some folks appeared to give them (and him).

The last year or two he was here, the personal attacks he received appeared to turn him into a much more nasty person than he was when I first came here. Too bad. Until then he was a good source of points of view which made me really think through some of the practices and fundamentals of shooting and loading. One didn't have to agree with him to learn through his influences.

Hot Core is not the only one that has left this place. IMO, he was an asset and wealth of Knowledge and I will miss him.

You may not have agreed with him , but he was a contributor with an informed opinion and an active member.

Without him and the others that have left before and those that have left after, this site is pretty much dead.

Thank You to all that made this once great site a "Piss on Hot Core" site that is now all but dead.

If the "you may have disagreed with him" was addressed to me, it is a misunderstanding of my relationship with Hot Core, at least when viewed through my eyes. I agreed with far more of what he said than I disagreed with.

When I said one could disagree with him and still learn from him, I was attempting to suggest politely that some folks who disagreed with him violently could have learned some things from him.

And until he was continuously jeered and attacked, he always seemed to be a well intentioned nice guy to boot. When attacked all the time he reacted...toward the end he reacted very strongly. But I can understand and empathize with that. And I don't blame him a bit. Even the mildest of people might over-react when pushed far enough.

IMO it was a big loss when rcamuglia was banned also. He does a lot of shooting and hunting and brought a lot of spirited discussions up.

Not much life left after the opinion Nazis got through. Guess they got what they wanted.

Actually glad to see both of them gone.

Their caustic remarks from the get go of a discussion would put people off the subject and then those attacked would retaliate.

I dont have a problem with a differant view of things, as it offers more food for thought.
rcamagulia had some good things to share, but for someone who represented a company, he was more often then not, a total ass about it. I stopped buying Browning anything because of him, I wont support a company that has someone of his attitude representing them. I didnt know he was banned though, what from? HotCore I never had a problem with even when we disagreed.

Oh it's dead alright. Maybe not the "site" but this reloading forum is done. Done and dead! How many posts over the last few days? Besides the ones that concern Hot-Core of course. Even in his absence he still draws more posts and comments than all other reloading topics combined.

I don't think anyone would deny that the .270 is a usable cartridge. The sad part is .270s are like little, poodle dogs. It isn't so much the dog, it's the people that own them. dancing

Hot Core beat on me like a “Red Headed Step Child” a few years back but I never got bent out of shape over it. The thin skinned people got pretty fired up over anything he said.

Frankly, on the internet, why would you take a person's commons to heart.

One reason it gets slower on this and many forums is that so much of the ground has been plowed so many times before.

I remember 10 years ago when there were different guys here making a lot of good contributions. Guys like Allen Day (RIP).

But there are still a lot of good loaders here on AR. Guys like woods and many more. Just need some new subject matter now and then. How often can woods and HC, and all of us , post about comparators and such Smiler.

Good Point. Cept, how can you get new reloaders and new members with new questions when the first thing they encounter here is a bunch of personal attacks and name calling. Not a friendly place to be sure.

They just move on to another more friendly site and find Woods and others with the same expert advice without all the bickering and childsplay this site is well known for.

shockerYes and NO to be sure. The ground has been plowed many times, but the newbie don't know that. A little patience and reiteration may be what's called for. Now if you don't want to plow through it again shine it on. old Nursing isn't for the aged. On second thought let me rethink that a while. Eekerroger

Hot Core was the master of personal attacks. He finally got what he asked for. All this sympathy for him saying woe is him is somewhat humerous to say the least.

Yes, he did make a few good points, he made some pretty bad ones to, but his biggest problem was he couldn't make any point without belittling someone. I'd be willing to bet his adverse posts ran off more posters than he recruited.

I agree.
HC acted like he was Archie Bunker and the world was Edith. I never noticed HC was gone until I saw this post, but I only stop on occasion anymore. I used to come often but got tired of every post extolling CHE, and seeing him continue to peck at posters that left yrs earlier due to his consistant belittling when he ran out of things to say to the present posters instead of just giving advice to the questions at hand.

He did have a a lot of excellent advice but, his "I`m being forced to work with fools" attitude took a lot away from it.

True, we lost a good source of info and he could have been (was) a valuable asset to the site. The forum will come back if people continue to get good advice and a bit of respect from those still here though. There are a lot of very knowledgable people around here that offer the same thing HC did in a much pleasenter fashion

No matter how much knowledge anyone has on a subject matter there will come down the road someone else with just as much, more, or a different take on the subjects.

We have the ignore function and its wonderful to use on those who piss you off through personal attacks.

I've drifted off to other boards to some extent and also found YouTube to have a lot of information. Some of the info you find there you do need to take with a shovel full of salt and some of it is really good and comes from a different viewpoint. I've learned some great reloading procedures and shooting techniques from You Tube. Hickcock45 is one on the tube that is informative.

The better the tolerant exchanges of ideas, opinions and experiences are on this board the more new input we will attract.

Glad to see the assholes depart......

It’s interesting how the subject of Hot Core makes people’s emotions flare up.
