Am working up load development for new 7X57 using 140 grain Accubonds. I have some RL22 on hand, Barnes lists some load info for RL22 but Nosler doesn't. Am not an experienced reloader but is there any downside to using the Barnes RL22 information? Don't want to debate whether RL22 is the best choice for a 7X57 or not, but rather can the Barnes RL22 load info be used even though Nosler doesn't mention this powder for 140 grain bullets?

rel22 is pretty slow for most bullets in the 7x57 -

I'd be looking at a powder that falls between 4064 and 4350. Hybrid 100V is often overlooked as are the Enduron powders offered by IMR. Not enough case capacity for powders as slow as RL22. Take a look at Hodgdons on-line reloading, lots of options there.

Alliant has RL-22 loads for 7x57 just not Accubonds 140gr. Are Accubond Solids or special in some way?

Because copper/brass has a much lower density than lead, Barnes and other similar monolithic solids are considerably longer per bullet weight.

As a result, they take up more volume in the case, and that means that a lighter charge and possibly a slightly faster powder is needed than for a "normal" bullet.

You should be able to use the Barnes load if you really feel you must, but you will probably get significantly less velocity than you would with either the Barnes bullet or a more optimum powder.

However, do make sure that the powder fills the case at least 75%, so that there is no possibility of exposing a large expanse of powder to the primer flash when the rifle is held level or slightly downward. And don't increase the powder charge until you have done a lot of reading with regard to how to check for excess pressure. If the recommended load doesn't fill the case to 75%, try something else.

I have an ole military mauser and H 4831 is the best powder that I have ever found. Sub 1" in 120-175 grain bullets.

The best powder for the 7x57, and Ive been using it for eons now is H414 and RL-19 second. I have a Brno mod. 21 and a Ruger 77, I load considerably over most book loads as book loads in 7x57 and 8x57 are extremely mild due to the Rem single shots, and the old 95 and 96 Mausers but in a good 98 Mauser or win mod 70 you can go beyond book max as a rule.

Both my Renner special Ruger and my Brno 21 came with a 30-06 length box and a matching throat, as any 7x57 should have, but many do not.

H414 and WW760 is the same powder, so H414 has recently been discontinued Im told. I know they use the exact same grainage..
