what is the best powder, or what is your best load for the 300 weatherby magnum?

i have a buddy that got a real nice price on a weatherby vanguard at wal-mart. he's thinkin on taking up reloading to ease the pain of buyin factory ammo. i may be the one to give him a start.....so i'm lookin for the info. i've never reloaded this caliber, but i'm guessing 180gr bullets with IMR7828 or H1000.....or Confused

thanks a bunch

I reload for this caliber (for my father's rifle), and I've played with multiple bullet weights and brands.

I have gotten the most consistent accuracy with RL-22 in this particular rifle, and so I keep going back to it.

I your friend will enjoy being able to reload for it, since it makes it even more versatile.

I use 85gr of IMR 7828, 180gr tsx, weatherby brass, 215M federal primers, 3.66 COL.

It's an over max load for normal barnes x. Works fine in my rifle though.
