I am about to receive a stainless m700 in 338 Remington Ultra Mag. good deal for it, 170 rounds thru it, comes with dies and shellholder, some brass, and a bunch of 250 gr. Partition component bullets.
I am somewhat familiar with the cartridge but have never shot or loaded for one. I am just looking for suggestions, experiences, or ideas for what loads work best.
My use for this rifle will be mainly moose/elk and black bear. I was thinking of loading the 210 gr. Barnes XLC to around 3100 fps. I am interested in all bullet weights though, from the 180 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip to the 275 gr. Swift A-Frame.
I think something slow burning like H1000 or RL25, Retumbo would be best for this big case. What have you guys found to be the best powder?
I have a BDL custom deluxe,the load is: 200grs Hornady interlock(3310),H-4831sc(95grs),primer WLRM,COL 3.385inch,RCBS f/lsets dies.The rifle can shoot .5-.7MOA.Playing with COL make a good difference.I didnt try others powders.Good shooting...
