todbartell338 Ultra Mag - Pet loads - what works??
I am about to receive a stainless m700 in 338 Remington Ultra Mag. good deal for it, 170 rounds thru it, comes with dies and shellholder, some brass, and a bunch of 250 gr. Partition component bullets.
I am somewhat familiar with the cartridge but have never shot or loaded for one. I am just looking for suggestions, experiences, or ideas for what loads work best.
My use for this rifle will be mainly moose/elk and black bear. I was thinking of loading the 210 gr. Barnes XLC to around 3100 fps. I am interested in all bullet weights though, from the 180 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip to the 275 gr. Swift A-Frame.

I think something slow burning like H1000 or RL25, Retumbo would be best for this big case. What have you guys found to be the best powder?
thanks in advance,
todbartell

Ted S.I have used reloader-25 and had great luck with 250 Grn. bullets. I have heard reloader-22 is good for the 225/210 Grn. bullets.

EagleyeTodd; My buddys 338 Ultramag likes that 250 Partition and 105 grains of AA8700. Shoots into a cloverleaf at 100. Regards, Eagleye.
