What are the definitive powders for both the 458 and the 375? Every one always lists about 3 or 4 for both. Bolt actions with 26 inch barrels in both. Thanx

For 270 & 300 gr. bullets in the 375 H&H Magnum, RL-15 works very well.

RL15 works better in my H&H than anything else I've tried. Can't help with the .458.

Only thing I used in 375 H&H was RL15. I've a small amount of heavy bullet 458 and leaned towards. H4895. But I have very minimum testing compared to others on the 458. My loads were slightly compressed with 500grs.

As usual just my $.02

Speaking 375 H&H. RE-15 is good but H414/WW760 will give 60-70fps more velocity for the same pressure. For 300 grains and heavier, RE-17 is about the best I've seen, especially for mono or semi-monos that take up more powder space.

RL17 keeps showing up. I've got several situations I need to try it.

Any situation where 4350 burn speed is appropriate but 4350 won't fit, RE-17 should be investigated, especially in the mid sized calibers (338-375). It kicked ass in the 348, was great in the 338 WM and cranked out some great velocities in the 375 with 350 grain bullets. I haven't tested it yet but bet it would shine in the 9.3x62. Too bad Alliant is a tad slow in gettng out info on it. Ther are a lot of appropriate cartridges for it's use.

+1

I really like W760 with 300 gr bullets.

For the 375H&H, RL15 or H414 are a good place to start. In my 375 the H414 loads shoot the 270TSX and Banded Solids to the same POI @ 100yards. Smiler
For the 458WM, H335 or AA2230 will easily reach 2150fps with a 500gr bullet.

.375 H&H, H4350 is my powder of choice. About 76.0-80.0gr. of H4350 and the 260-300gr. bullet of your choice will do just about anything.

Regards,

Robert

+2 for the W760

75-76 grs behind 270 or 300 grain bullets works better than I can shoot in my CZ.

For the 375 H$H Reloader 15 is the best I've found, I am only shooting 300 grain bullets.
For the .458 I have limited experience but IMR-4895 is shooting very well with the 500 grain Hornady's

And nobody mentiond Accurate 2520 or VARGET for the 375!!! Well I admit to being somewhat of a wuss and preferring 17 Fireballs or 204's or 22-250's or 25-06's to the big kickers but leaving out those two powders for use in the 375H&H astounds me!! Charlie (GHD) PS: Maybe I need to try some RL-15 myself!!
