Can the Russian ammo be fired in a .308" barrel safely? My Mosin-Nagant mod 91-30 bore is .301", groove .3135". The Russian bullets mic. .3105". I'm considering re-chambering a 30-30 handi-Rifle to this cartridge. I realize I can neck the case down and reload with .308 bullets but I would also like to shoot the surplus military ammo. The case neck OD of a loaded a 30-30 round is .329" and a 7.62X54R is .332". Can this be done or will I be unable to shoot the surplus ammo in a .308 barrel? Thanks... Jon

I should think trying to stuff a bullet down a barrel that is .020 too small for it is askin' for trouble. Pressures would be astronomical. Just my opinion. I'd not try it...
