First post, and I hate asking such a question, but I just got my Barnes Tipped TSX 180gr for my 300WM. I am 2 hours from anywhere that has the manual, and would like to put some holes in paper tomorrow. I have worked up a lot of load/bullet combos, and my rifle likes the two powders listed below:

H4831 sc
IMR7828 ssc

Can you leave the min/max charges for the two powders? My Speer manual doesn't list a Barnes bullet load.

...and by the way, why is it that the Barnes bullet makes such a difference in powder charges than a copper/lead bullet? In my Speer manual, the max charge using H4831 using a 180 btsp is 75 grains.

Barnes bullets are longer than traditional cup/core bullets because copper is lighter than lead. The extra length of the Barnes bullets means that they intrude on powder capacity.

Barnes does have some limited data online.

My barnes Number 4 book gives 74 grains of Imr-7828SSC max and 72 grains max of H4831SC for the 180 grain MRX BT bullet. The speed of the former is 2972 fps, the speed of the later is 2944 fps. I shoot the .300 Winny along with 7 Elk hunting buddies. We all use RL-22 with the Fed 210M primer and max load is 76 grains with a good honest speed of 3100 fps without pressure signs. We have taken many Bulls with this load. Hope this helps. Good shooting.

I should add that we normally we use the 180 grain North Fork or Nosler Partition or Barnes TSX bullets instead of the MRX BT bullet with the load mentioned. There should not be that much difference in the TSX and MRX BT bullets as far as pressure is concerned. You should always start lower than our max just in case your barrel is different from ours.
