I should reload a few rounds 7mm-08 for a friend. He have 120grs ballistic tip and 154grs MEN "strongjacket". After reading some of my reloading books, I´m not really smarter. I would select Hodgdon propelant, like H380 or H414. Hmmm.... But I don´t know. Anyone can help? Thanks, Martin

Varget, or if not available H4350. I`ve had very good results with IMR4007ssc in mine with 120gr bullets ------------------------------------ The trouble with the Internet is that it's replacing masturbation as a leisure activity. ~Patrick Murray "Why shouldn`t truth be stranger then fiction? If you've already got some H414, that would be a good starting point. I've always had good success with H4895. The difference in accuracy I've gotten between H4895, H414, and Varget isn't enough to quibble over if you're loading for a hunting rifle. Aim for the exit hole

For the 7mm08 I get great results with varget. I have also tried H4350, N160 and N150 with satisfactory results. I have not tried Re17 but have heard good things about this powder. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

My Winchester M70 Compact with a 20 inch barrel seems to like W760 for every bullet I've tested plus it allows me to get a decent velocity out of the shorter barrel. Great cartridge, good luck. PAul "Diligentia - Vis - Celeritas" NRA Benefactor Member Member DRSS

I run H414 under a 140 grain ballistic tip in my Remington model 7 with an 18 inch tube. The faster I push them the tighter it groups. I am about four grains over what some data says is max. No pressure signs honest 1/4 to 3/8 inch groups if I do my part and around 2800fps. Hell of a whitetail deer combination. From 50 to 350 yards as long as I hold upper third on a deer I am going to have a dead deer within five to fifty yards of where they were standing. Only deer that have gone far were heart shots. Hit em in the lungs and they ain't going far.

I too run W-760/H-414 a couple grains over published max under a Speer 145 Gr. FB in my Model 7 w/20" barrel . Shoots better than MOA and kills Deer like lightening ! It's the only time I have exceeded published Max , accuracy kept improving , and no signs of high pressure . I probably could have added more , but stopped at 2700 FPS . Don't forget to have your Liberals spayed or neutered !

Varget has always worked well for all of my 708 loads and is my favorite but when I shot hunter class score matches with it I used H4350 with 150SMKs as my winning combo. I recently compared the old load of 43.0 gr of 4350 to 43.0 gr of RE17 and the RE17 was 132 fps faster on average and grouped almost as tight as the 4350.
