I'm shooting a 240gr Hardcast out of my Marlin using reduced loads of H4895. I wanted a "powder puff" load for just goofing around, and these shoot well enough. I know I can drive them to max velocity, but I stuck with the 60% rule of H4895. I'd say start with that.

5744; perfect for cast bullets. 20 grains will give about 1200 and 30 about 1600; depending on how much your bullets can take. 5744 is position insensitive and is made for such uses.
