Anyone have a favorite 6MM load they would like to share? I will shoot 75, 80 & 85 grain bullets, as well as 100 grainers. I shoot quite a bit of Hodgdon powder so if you have a load using their powder, it would be a plus.

The 6mm Remington is so flexible that you should not have any trouble finding good loads for it.

I will list some loads that I prefer, but keep in mind that they should ALL be considered maximum ! Do not start with these loads.

Also the velocities are pretty high because my current 6mm Remington has a 26 inch Shilen barrel with a one in 12 twist. ( I went with the 1 in 12 just for nostalga-my first centerfire rifle was a .244 Remington)

These loads all use Winchester cases and Fed 210M primers.

48 grains H 4350 Sierra 70 HPBT = 3574 fps
46.5 grains H 4350 Nosler 80 BT = 3458 fps
46.5 grains H 4350 Sierra 80 Blitz = 3406 fps

43 grains H 4831SC Hornady 100 RN = 2805 fps
48.5 grains H 4831SC Sierra 85 SP = 3296 fps

Two of the very best in my gun, but may be too hot in others are:

47.5 grains IMR 4831 Sierra 80 Blitz = 3450 fps

50 grains IMR 4831 Nolser 70 BT = 3775 fps

With the IMR 4831 and Sierra 80 Blitz load I have killed prairie dogs in excess of 750 yards.

Remember start low and work up.

My all-time favourite load for both the 6mm Rmington and the .244 Remington (differnce is the barrel twist) is:

48 grains H-4831, 85 gr. Sierra BTHP, W/W or Fed LRP, Winchester brass.

A couple loads I use are 80 gr remington corlokts & 41 grains 4064, and 100 gr Hornady sp and 39 grains IMR 4350. Both work well for me.

I have a good load and it is actually a book load for 100-105gr bullets. It's 43.5grs of IMR-4350.It gives me 1/2" groups in my old 700 Remy with a 22" barrel @ 3000fps.

I developed this load in 1970, accurate and effective in several 6mm rifles.

87 Hornady/46.5/IMR4350/F210

It is warm, 2 grains below the maximum shown in Hornady's #2 Manual but above the max shown in #4. Work up from 43 grains.

I shot more 85-100gr in my 6mm. My go to was a heavy load of H414 in the Hodgdon and RL19

As usual just my $.02

I used almost exactly that load on a crow in a pecan tree about 1970. My grandparents farm house was full of Thanksgiving visitors and we watched most of the crow blow away in the wind.

Paul, H414 has been my powder as well. I like it fine but was curious to know if I'm missing something that might be a head turner.
Thanks,
