Have several reload manuals except Hornady's Frowner
Can anyone tell me the load data for the 55gr v-max in .223 using Benchmark. I just came home from the range and these were awesome! I loaded up some 55 and 60 grain v-max's using Benchmark and both were shooting 1/2" to 3/4" at 100yrd from a shooting bag. I'm primarily looking for velocities so I can compute a Point Blank Range to sight in. Thanks for your help.
P.S. If I knew how to post pictures I would post them and show off a little! Big Grin

I use 22.7grs. of Benchmark with the wsr primer, that gives me the best accuracy, Hornady has a max of something like 24, but don't quote me on that. Jay

It isn't from Hornady, but...

55's:
Benchmark From 22.7 grains to 25.6 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

60's:
Benchmark From 21.5 grains to 25.0 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

My 5th edition of Hornady load book don't show any loads for the .223 with Benchmark.

The Hornady manual doesn't list benchmark as one of their choices for the 55 or 60 grn. bullets, not that it won't work just isn't listed.

gotta learn to type faster, vapodog beat me to the punch.

Hey thanks guy's. The load I tried with the 60gr v-max was 23.8gr Benchmark, WSR primer, Winchester brass, COL = 2.280. Imeasured the groups after I made my original post and they were .658 and .714 with my MKII.

Can someone give me a hint of the velocity I should have with that load?

Thanks for the feedback.

Benchmark is made by ADI in Australia. There are actually two versions of it, but the one shipped to the USA is ADI BM2.

The ADI reloading site is here: ADI reloading

Your post indicates that your looking for printed velocities so that you can calculate sight in distances? If so, don't go by the printed page, I think everyone will agree published loads are conservative. Invest in or borrow a chronograph, it's the best way find out velocities for your load and your gun.
