| For accuracy H4895 works very well in mine with 52-55gr bullets. For a high vel- accurate load I like Varget with the 55gr and up wgts.

| My most accurate .223 load was 24.5 grains of IMR 3031 with a Sierra 55-grain spitzer flatbase bullet. This load would shoot one-hole groups for me from my old M722 Remington with a rechambered .222 barrel of 26" length - as issued factory stock, and a Bushnell 3X-9X Scopechief on it in Redfield Jr. mount. MV of this load was just a bit over 3300 FPS from that 26" barrel......

| Just remember it might have alot to do with your twist. I have an AR15 and was hoping to use 55 grainers for plinking but it shot awful with those bullets because of the 1:7 twist. It shot great when I moved up to 68 grainers. You could experiment till the cows come home if you have a tight twist vrs 55 grainers. |

| I appreciate all the input, I have had my best success with Varget and Hodgdon H4198. Just keep trying to make those holes smaller and always open for new suggestions. Thanks JB |

| 25 grains of H335 with a 52 Sierra will go into the threes for five shots in my .223. It's the first load I tried, nothing works better.

| You really should try some H335....Even if it's only equal to the accuracy of a stick powder you'll be joyous over how it meters like sugar... R

| I use H-335 (and WC-844) exclusively in my .223 (bolt action Sako). While it's possible that some other powder might deliver even better accuracy, accuracy (and velocity) with this powder is so good that I haven't seen the need to experiment further. |

| 16 Gr. of IMR4227 and 55 Gr. Nosler BT's. I haven't chrono'ed this load but my best 100 yd. 3 shot group out of my 14" Contender has been .176". This is a very mild load but out to 200 yds. it is a tack driver, at least in my Contender. |

| With my old Savage with a 1 in 12" twist rate, I got the best results with 25.0 gr of Accurate 2015BR and Nosler 50 gr Ballistic Tips. Start low and work up carefully since Accurate's current data shows a maximum of 24.5 gr with a Speer TNT.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

HP SHOOTER, I am not interested in what you don't know, tell me what you do? What heavy loads work well for you in your 223. I have an LTR with a 1 in 8 twist and it shoots the heavy bullets a little better. Thanks jb |

I assume this is one of the powders Hodgdon imports into the US and repackages under one of their designations. If so, does anyone here know what Hodgdon calls it?

| I noticed a couple of comments about BL-C2.
What primers are you guys using ?
I never had really good luck with this powder. Still have quite a bit left.
Whats the trick ? Magnum primers ?

" Being close to the BL-C-2 is the surplus WCC846. At the range two of my cousins are using the same load in their .223s and punching near one holers using many different quality bullets and the WCC846. My .222 seems to like it too but it sure is dirty. roger

At one time I had six .223 rifles......all of them shooting the same load.....27.5 Gr BL(C)-2 It was fantastic.....all shot beautifully.....and I used the cheapest primers I could find.....nothing special!! CCI, others
