Given how hard it is to find powder these days, I decided to get an 8 lb keg of one rifle powder that I can use for the following three guns:
25/06 with 100 gr bullets
270WSM with 130 gr bullets
7x57 Mauser with 160 gr bullets.

Question:
Which powder do you think I selected?

Choices:
4320
4350
4831
RL19
RL22
7828

Although I use 4831 in the 25-06, 4350 is an all round choice for those 3 cartridges.

My must have powders are;

IMR 4350
IMR 4831
IMR 6064
IMR 3031
AA 2230

With our current situation shouldn't the question be, which one can I find?

Your question is moot if you can' t get the one you want. First, find the ones you can actually buy and then ask. I use most of RL15, 4350, 4064, 4831. I could manage with only those. Plus Unique.

Thanks for the responses to the poll. My 8 lb keg of XMR4350 is nearly gone, I just bought an 8 lb keg of IMR4831. So I should be set for these three guns for a while.

RL15, H4831, H4350, RL22, Varget, I4350, I4831, Unique, W231, I5010, WC860. Some of these in my stock have dropped below 20LBS each.. I am starting to get nervous as I have not bought any years and I have not seen any of the above in stock anywhere for over a year now.

These are not powders I would think of to load the 25/06 or 270WSM but Hodgdon does list IMR4895 loads for both these cartridges.

I voted 4350, but my second choice would be Reloder 19 of the listed powders. Of powders that are actually available in my location and online, IMR-4831 would be an excellent option, along with Reloder 17 and Power Pro 4000MR.

Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

I use 4895 in my .270, and even in the .243. It shoots very consistently in the .243 with 85 gr bullets, and 130 gr bullets in the .270. I use the 3031 in the .22-.250. I know there are better options out there, but I am not a "serious" reloader and do not care to spend a lot of time experimenting, or to carry more than the 2 powders I have. They work well, and I have more than enough of both to last my old age. I've almost stopped using the muzzle loader so I gave 6 pounds of Pyrodex to a buddy for Xmas. I kept a pound just in case I get an itch. I let a guy trade me out of 4 pounds of 4831 that I had picked up but never used.

My situation in New Zealand is also challenging - the supply is beeter than it was a few years ago & we have more choice with IMR, Hodgdon & Alliant available along with ADI. But Vihtavuori has dried up. But prices are crazy - $69 for 500 grams - minimum!

My main powders are

AR2209 - (H4350)
AR2208 - (Varget)
Vihtavuori N160
AR 2207 - (H4198)

I have not been able to find H322 but AR2219 is the same. I should get some .....

In that bunch 4350.

I've been using H-414 lately but 4350 works well.
Got an 8lb of 4350 and 748 at a show.

H4350 will perform well for you in your choice of three cartridges and if you are not worried about high velocity then the H4895 will work well too.

I have a larger range of case volumes and stock:
H414, H335, H4895, Varget, H110, and TiteGroup.

Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.
