Mini14 and small base dies

I'm getting ready to load up a bunch of blasting ammo for my brothers Mini 14. Never loaded 223 for a semi auto before. Am I gonna need small base dies for this application? He's 6 hours East of here so other than sending him some loaded rounds, I can't really be sure. Thanks for the input.

I don't think so, for my Mini 14 I reload ammos with regular Lee dies. You should make some tests anyway... Lorenzo

I too use standard 223 reloading dies for my mini-14. The trick I believe is to full lenght resize all of the time. I have shots thousands of rounds through it and have never had a failure of any sort. Good luck.

I really hate to ask this, but since it is "blasting ammo", why even bother to reload? You can buy military surplus for less than it costs to reload.

Steve, I agree. But I've got about 500 FMJ's, a whole bunch of brass, powder and primers that cost me a little more than nothing. Besides, I owe him a favor or two. Ah yes, brotherly love. [Roll Eyes]
